( NIV )
Mark 7:7-9
7 "...They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught
by men.'
8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the
traditions of men."
9 And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the
commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!..."
( NIV )
Luke 9:23-24
23 "...If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take
up his cross daily and follow me.
24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever
loses his life for me will save it..."
( NIV )
Revelation 3:1-3
1 "...I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but
you are dead.
2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have
not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.
3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it,
and repent..."
( NIV )
James 2:19-26
19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe
that -– and shudder.
20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds
is useless?
21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he
did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together,
and his faith was made complete by what he did.
23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed
God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was
called God's friend.
24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by
faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered
righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and
sent them off in a different direction?
26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds
is dead..."

Colossians 1:3-14
Thanksgiving and Prayer
3 "...We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
when we pray for you,
4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the
love you have for all the saints --
5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up
for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word
of truth, the gospel
6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing
fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the
day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.
7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a
faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not
stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the
knowledge of hi s wi l l t hr ou gh a ll sp iritual wisdom and
understanding.
10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord and may please him inevery way: bearing fruit in every good
work, growing in the knowledge of God,
11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious
might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and
joyfully
12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in
the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought
us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins..."
