Sin Breaks Man's Covenant with God
Truth and reality exist apart from ourselves, whether we acknowledge it or not.
( John 8:34-36 New Jerusalem Bible ) " . . . Jesus replied: In
all truth I tell you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave.
Now a slave has no permanent standing in the household, but a son
belongs to it for ever.
So if the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free. . . "
Sin has a Double Consequence
By Frederick Pogorzelski
Feigned Ignorance and Hardness of Heart Do Not Diminish,
but rather Increase,
The Voluntary Character of Sin.
Man is not the arbitrator of life. Abortion
and Contraception are a violation of Natural Law. Those
who are deliberate in "choosing not to know" that is:
"Feigned ignorance and hardness of heart do not diminish,
but rather increase, the voluntary character of sin." [ CCC #1859,
page 455.] (Mark 3:5-6) (Luke 16:19-31). A person is culpable for
the evil he or she commits when they take "little trouble to find
out what is true and good, or when conscience is by degrees almost
blinded through the habit of committing sin. In such cases, the
person is culpable for the evil he commits." [ CCC # 1791, page 441
].
God alone must judge individuals ( Romans 2:16 ) ( 1 Corinthians
4:5; 5:12-13 ).
Human freedom and obedience
A few years ago (01/29/05) I listened to
Father John Corapi in person. Speaking about human freedom
and other subjects at the Cathedral of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Palm
Beach Gardens, Florida. Father John Corapi said something
like this: "you can either obey the Pope [ Vicar of Christ ] now, or
obey Satan for all eternity later on - but your going to obey
someone." Father John Corapi spoke the truth, in love, and
in charity.
Selfishness and Sin and the Abuse of Freedom.
Selfishness and sin, an abuse of freedom,
was noted by Saint Augustine when he wrote:
"Sin says "I,I,I," - not thou".
Selfishness and Sin of any kind subverts
and destroys unity. The sin of formal heresies echoes down the
centuries, and has as their primordial roots, the disobedience of
Adam and Eve ( Genesis 3:5 ), "you will be like God." In
effect the fatal, primordial lie, Satan told our first parents was:
"You can arbitrarily decide what Truth is; you can decide for your
self what is good and evil". This prideful lies is a rejection of
the authority of God - a violation of "sacred space". Formal
heresies are a rejection of the authority of the Church founded by
Jesus Christ.Sin and heresies always divide - they are diabolic.
Concupiscence is the consequence of the original sin of our first
parents ( Genesis 3 ) which echoes down the centuries. ( Psalm 51:5
NIV ) " . . . Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my
mother conceived me . . . " Concupiscence is disordered human
appetites or desires which remain disordered due to the temporal
consequence of original sin. Concupiscence remains even after
Baptism, and produces an inclination to sin. Concupiscence is like
tinder that flares up.
Cooperation with a Moral Evil is Sin
By Frederick Pogorzelski
The seriousness of the sin, of cooperation with a moral evil,
depends on many facts, and may be classified as either:
"formal cooperation" or "material cooperation"
with a moral evil. We have a right or a duty to disobey an unjust
law.
[For example: In Montgomery Alabama, (1955) a Black women Rosa
Parks, by law, had to sit in the back of a city bus and stand if a
white person needed a seat. Rosa Parks courageously refused to give
up her seat to a white man. She was arrested. The unjust law,
discriminated, based on race or color, and was eventually changed.
Rosa Parks has been called the mother of the civil rights
movement.]
Truth is a Matter of Life and Death Eternally
Sin and evil has primordial roots, (its echoes) in the
disobedience of Adam and Eve:
(Genesis 3:5) "you will be like God".
Sin can be both lack of charity and humility; an arrogant refusal to acknowledge the Truth
A person can be so blinded by the habit of sin that he or she feels as though they are the "arbitrator of life."
Some persons will kill (fratricide murdered by their own mother or father) a person in the first few hours or days of their life. Using chemical abortion products to kill an innocent and then confusing the fact they they have committed a murder; they distract from their evil deed. Using high rhetoric and clever marketing terms like "modern," "progressive," "impowered," "inclusive," and "legal right," "personal choice," "reproductive health care rights," "tolerant of lifestyles," they claim the higher moral ground and can be dismissive of Natural Law - saying "so what?" Sinners will attack persons, institutions, and even the Natural Law thinking about themselves to be "above." Some sinners view themselves as being "above it all "- free from Natural Law or notions of Absolute Truth. They view themselves as being amongst a higher intellectual, moral, educated or scientific class - on a kind of "Higher Moral Plain" answerable only to the secular authorities.
God will assist these persons with the humility they need to acknowledge Absolute Truth and the Natural Law on their individual day of judgement. I don't doubt that some "arbitrators of life" will read this and become amused and laugh. I take Christ at His word, and believe that their are eternal consequences for crimes such as murder. I hope this article does some good and is not dismissed as a "scare tactic."
I hope that, a least some persons, will come to believe that: "Truth and reality exist apart from ourselves, whether we acknowledge it or not."
Cooperation with God within Marriage
God has allowed us to cooperate with Him, within marriage, on the
gift of new life. Artificial Contraception is a rejection of the
gift of God; not trusting that God loves us and knows what is best
for us. Sin can be the love of oneself, even to the contempt of
Truth; contempt of God. Sin and evil has primordial roots, (its
echoes) in the disobedience of Adam and Eve: (Genesis 3:5) "you
will be like God".
Incredulity: The willful refusal to assent to
revealed truth, or even the neglect of truth. If an individual
is obstinate (Exodus 33:5) or incredulous God will assist that
individual on his or her individual judgment day to acknowledging
absolute truth. . . .every knee shall bow to me, and every
tongue shall confess to God.. . (Romans 14:11). Once
again - Truth is a Matter of Life and Death Eternally-so Choose
Life.

The punishments of sin
1472 To understand this doctrine and practice of
the Church it is necessary to understand that sin has a double
consequence. Grave sin deprives us of communion with God and
therefore makes us incapable of eternal life, the privation of
which is called the eternal punishment of sin. On the
other hand every sin, even venial, entails an unhealthy attachment
to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after
death in the state called Purgatory. This purification frees one
from what is called the temporal punishment of sin. These
two punishments must not be conceived of as a kind of vengeance
inflicted by God from without, but as following from the very
nature of sin. A conversion which proceeds from a fervent charity
can attain the complete purification of the sinner in such a way
that no punishment would remain. footnote 84: [ Cf. Council of
Trent (1551): DS 1712-1713; (1563): 1820. ]
1473 The forgiveness of sin and restoration of
communion with God entail the remission of the eternal punishment
of sin, but temporal punishment of sin remains. While patiently
bearing sufferings and trials of all kinds and, when the day comes,
serenely facing death, the Christian must strive to accept this
temporal punishment of sin as a grace. He should strive by works of
mercy and charity, as well as by prayer and the various practices
of penance, to put off completely the old man and to put
on the new man. footnote 85: [ Eph 4:22,24. ]
