In loving Memory of Joseph Cardinal Bernardin.
I don't watch television much but just by chance, or so it seemed, as I walked through the lobby of a hotel, I happened to see the image of Joseph Cardinal Bernardin on the television screen.
It was one of his last public television appearances, and as I had just finished a long days work, I was tired; but I paused, sat, and listened. Cardinal Bernardin was dying of cancer. He was saying good bye -
a few simple public last words. As best I can recall he said some words like this: "all the work their is yet to be done."
Over the course of the next several weeks, Cardinal Bernardin's simple words:
" all the work their is yet to be done" kept intruding on my thoughts.
Perhaps it was by God arranged chance that I just happened to be there at that moment to hear some of Cardinal Bernardin's last public words.
As time went on, and in combination with other educational events happening at that time, I was inspired to make this Catholic Evangelism web site.
This site has now grown to over 5000 visitors per month [update: January 2007 about 7000 visitors per month!] [update: October 2007 over 8000 visitors per month!- and still growing.
God Bless you Joseph Cardinal Bernardin!
Peace be with you always Joseph Cardinal Bernardin!
Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, I hope others will be inspired by the Holy Spirit, and your words, and their will be better - and many more - Catholic educational web sites.
Embracing Death as a Friend by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin
From a speech given at Georgetown University, September 9th 1996 ". . .As a person of faith, of resurrection faith, I see death as a friend, not a foe; and the experience of death is, I am convinced, a transion from life to life, from grace to glory."

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless. And we, though many, through-out the earth, we are one body in this one Lord. Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man no more. Many the gifts, many the works, one in the Lord of all. ( 1 Corinthians 10:14-18; 12:1-31 ) ( Galatians 3:23-29 )
( Ephesians 1:15-23; 2:1-22; 5:1-33 )
I have never been able to convince myself that someone could be saved, if he has never done anything for the salvation of his brethren . . . " Saint John Chrysostom.
